Important actor of the cultural life of Timisoara, the French Institute (formerly, the French Cultural Center), has been present since 1992 in Timisoara, where it promotes the policy of cultural cooperation and action of the French Embassy for the promotion of French cultures and language.

The Institute transmits the practice of the French language through actions of educational and university cooperation and through a diversified offer of courses, aimed at adults, children and companies.

In the cultural and artistic field, the French Institute of Timișoara develops the Franco-Romanian collaborations and promotes the cultural diversity, having as a priority the film, the book, the debates of ideas and the performing arts.

The institute organizes or holds about thirty events annually, the peak moments being Cafékultour (festival of young creators, held in cafés, together with the German Cultural Center), the French Film Festival, the Music Festival, the Humor Film Days, as well as the new Street Art Festival - Impuls.
