Reports House in the Iosefin District

The edifice, having two façades on two of the most important boulevards in Iosefin and a third one towards the square, is one of the most impressive examples of historicist eclectic architecture with Neo-Baroque elements in Timişoara.

Situated at 1, Regele Carol I Bd.,  and 18, 16 Decembrie 1989 Bd., it has the order to purchase the land from December 1895, and the building authorization for the shops on the ground floor from July 29, 1897. It was a report house, a house with appatments to rent.

The municipality of Timişoara built this complex, which initially included a restaurant which became famous (called for a long time “Sinaia”) and a cafe, in order to ensure, out of the high rents, the City’s pension fund. This was the first building to be completed in this area, after the reduction, in 1868, of the Esplanade, the land where building was forbidden, from 948 m to 569 m, thus allowing the districts to expand towards the city.
